Course Profile
This is a recognised qualification from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and is applicable to employees in catering, retail and manufacturing industries who are involved in food preparation. This course will provide employees with an understanding of the causes and prevention of food poisoning. This course can be run with 4 to 15 delegates.
Target Audience
All employees who work directly or indirectly within an organisation where food is prepared cooked and served. (Typically including Catering, Retail or Manufacturing Industries)
Benefits
This certificate is the first step in building employees awareness of the correct procedures when handling food and the consequences to them of not following all legislative guidelines. They will also be able to contribute in any food or drink environment and towards any food hygiene management system, policy and practice. It allows companies to fulfil their duty by showing due diligence in complying with legislation.
Course Content
- To enable delegates to work in a safe and healthy manner. To show due diligence and contribute to improving food hygiene processes and procedures within an organisation.
- To ensure delegates can identify key food hazards in their place of work.
- To ensure delegates understand the importance of food hygiene rules, regulations and working procedures.
- To ensure that all delegates are able to correctly report food hygiene problems.
- To ensure that all delegates are aware that they are responsible for their own actions.
- To ensure all delegates can correctly identify all symptoms and causes of food poisoning.
Examination
This will take the form of a 1 hour examination paper consisting of 30 multiple choice questions. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 to attain a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health certificate. Oral tests are available to ensure that candidates with learning difficulties or disabilities can also access the training course and achieve success. Course books and examination papers are also available in various different languages.
Programme Support
All delegates will receive a copy of the CIEH ‘Food Safety First Principles’ and a workbook containing additional information and exercises compiled by Training in Excellence.
